This week's verses are:
Proverbs 22:6 "Train [a] a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it."
Deuteronomy 6:5-9 "5 Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. 6 These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. 7 Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. 8 Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. 9 Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates."
These days when David and I sat down together, we still couldn't grasp the fact that we were going to have a baby. What will this little person look like? What temperament will he/she have? And most importantly, what do we want him/her to be and how can we influence our baby? In my mind, I dreamed about a baby who smiles at everybody; who sings and dances in the mood; who is quiet at church but active at the playground; who is sensitive and compassionate to others; who participates in cooking, setting tables, cleaning-up, etc; who trusts and talks to God in every situation; who speaks Chinese and English fluently; who loves reading; ... who is like his/her daddy! Baby is a special blessing from God. We pray that we are worthy of the trust of such a blessing!
My name was officially changed at work and at the bank today. My co-workers were all trying to get familiar with the new name. It was fun! David bought a big box of Chinese flash cards to learn more Chinese words. When he asked me what he could help with the cooking, I said "Nothing. You can rest for a while." He picked up a stack of flash cards and said "OK. I'll learn Chinese then." Before the dinner was ready, he learned all the prepositions: on, above, under, below, in, out, between, among, etc. He can easily carry on a simple conversation in Chinese now. I'm so proud of him!
